A Sad Time to be a Democrat...

When George Bush was speaking at Georgetown University this week, a group of student protestors stood up and turned their backs to him.

Although he ignored the protestors, he might have learned something from the banner they were holding.

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."

Benjamin Franklin

I've been upset with the ineptitude of the Democratic party all week. I've written, deleted, written, deleted and written again. I've just not been able to put my feelings into words the way Maureen Dowd (NY Times) has done. Today's article published in the St. Petersburg Times says it all so much better than I ever could.

"The Democrats will never win the White House as long as they're stuck in Bleak House. They're slipping and sliding in the same crust - upon - crust of mud and caboose creeping fog and soft black drizzle and flakes of soot that blackened the chamber of laws in the opening of the terrific Dickens novel."

"The Democratic party simply seems incapable of getting the muscular message and riveting messenger needed to dispel the mug, fog, frizzle and soot emanating from Karl Rove's rag and bone shop on Pennsylvania Avenue. "

"As the White House drives its truckload of lies around the country it becomes ever clearer that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and Al Gore are just not the right people to respond to the asministration's national security scare-a-thon."

I read this and understand it all. But who in the this country is going to be able to get the message across??? It worries me that this country is not just angry with the Bush Administration over all their lies. How can that be? Some one with a big voice needs to step up NOW!!

on dondon thank you soooo much for posting this...i missed this in the times...THIS IS EXACTLY what has been eating at me...depressing me...sure, what bushco is doing is atrocious...but what is worse, there is no one who can stop him...not one of those people maureen mentions is up to the task...maybe barak obama should call up harry bellafonte and those 2 could take over...

peace...

This is one of my top three favorite quotes of all times. Depending on the situation in the country, it moves up. There are So Many actions that could be taken to protect us that do NOT violate our rights as Americans and the Constitution ~ but those actions aren't being taken. Why can't the democrats ~ or even other republicans ~ stop this? It's not a left/right issue. It's a liberty/nonliberty issue. I'm moving to Jamaica...

A million little pieces. That's where I am.

I can't post either. I don't know how to write what I am feeling.

A sense of doom that is for certain.

The Democrats need to grow a pair of big ones and FAST!

Time will not wait for them and this 'Republican-Lite' B.S. is no longer working.

Yes folks, the revolution will be televised.
