Divine Intervention!

I promised myself I'd take a break from blogging this weekend but I just had to get one more word in!

I was reading some of the blogs written by visitors to my site this evening when once again, I stumbled upon blogs relating to two disturbing articles that were published this week.

The first, abortion clinics in New Orleans became the cause of Hurricane Katrina according to a group of fundamentalist christians.

The following day, An organization of christian fundamentalists claimed the destruction brought on by Hurricane Katrina was God's judgment against New Orleans for holding festivals like the annual gay Southern Decadence party.

"Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city," said Repent America director Michael Marcavage on the organization's Web site.

As I was reading all of this garbage, my PUG Muggs came to the side of my chair and standing on his hind legs, began tapping on my knee with his front paw to get my attention.

It was time to go outside to PP, but I only had one paragraph left to read so I lifted him to sit on my lap ... and then it happened.

Muggs whispered in my ear.... da da (my dogs call me da da), "God didn't bring this hurricane as punishment to New Orleans because of abortion clinics or gay related events." I was stunned when he continued: "God brought the hurricane because he's angry with the fundamentalist christians." Suddenly I remembered that all the southern states hit by Hurricane Katrina were "BIBLE BELT" states; but Muggs had more to say. "God Hates Hate", was his next comment before finally saying, "now can you please take Daisy and I outside to PP?"

"Of course, Muggs and an extra dog biscuit for you when we get back!

I checked several fundamentalist christian websites. None of them are asking for donations to help any of the "bible belt" states affected by Hurricane Katrina.

And a special note to Michael Marcavage: The French Quarter, where most of the GAY bars are located, received NO SIGNIFICANT damage and remains intact due to the fact that the French Quarter is located 5 feet above sea level! Sorry to disappoint you, Michael!

It's all so rediculous, isn't it? 'Example

This is Muggs!

Yay, Muggs! And yes, it seems to slip the fundies minds that the affected areas are Red states, anti-same sex marriage, and fill with fundies just like them!
