Does the pain ever really go away?

Ah, Don. The answer is no. Not really. The most honest information I have ever been given was when a friend told me that the pain will subside on a daily level. And, when it kicks back in, it will kick in as intensely as the day you lost him. Just remember, it is a sign of your love and his love for you that keeps that connection so strong. Drop a line if you want to. Consider yourself hugged.

It's been my experience it never goes away but one day in the future... how long is never the same... the pain will ease and the best memories will grow sweeter.

You learn how to live and deal with the loss, just as you'd learn how to live and deal with a disability. And remember that the one you lost would not want for your life to cease as well, but to live for the both of you now.
Blessings and hugs to you.
